I’ve moved around a lot. I got a BA in Chemistry from Lawrence University in Appleton. I spent 6 months in India doing research in nutrition, as an undergraduate. I served as a high school science and math teacher in Sierra Leone, Africa for 2 years as a Peace Corps Volunteer. I worked as a scientist in molecular biology at the UW and at Promega Corporation in Madison for 8 years before quitting to go to UW Law School to become a patent attorney. I worked for a couple of law firms in Madison for about 5 years, then moved Northfield, IL to take a job as in-house patent counsel for Pharmacia Corp. That company was acquired by Pfizer, and I was transferred to their site in Ann Arbor, MI. I left Pfizer when they closed that site, and moved to Lowell, MA where I worked for another pharmaceutical company, Eisai Inc. A few years later, I moved to White Plains, NY to work as in-house patent counsel for Bayer HealthCare LLC, and later to Boonton Township, NJ when the company closed its site in NY and transferred me to NJ. I left Bayer about 2 1/2 years ago to go back into private practice, and am now a partner at Liang, Frank & King LLP, a small patent boutique firm based in the greater NY area. I still live in NJ. I play trombone and various other brass instruments in various musical groups, including a couple of Civil War reenactment military brass bands. I also enjoy kayaking, biking, and scuba diving.
