Favorite Quote: “I wish I were as smart and good-looking as Dean” -David Young

Here are some replies from a long-ago Cooney ’78 questionaire:

I still am close to Greg Muske, my inseparable best friend from grade school on. He is living in WI right now, and I in NC, so we don’t see each other that much, but we are still in regular contact.

Had I known in High School what I know now, I would have gotten to know a lot more people better. Looking through the yearbook pictures I see a lot of interesting-looking people whom I never got to know more than by sight and name. Getting to know them all would have been a tall order, but it would have been good to try. I would also have spent more time on creative activities and less in front of the tube or otherwise wasting time…

Biggest discovery? The importance of some kind of regular meditation practice to one’s well-being.

Favorite quotations? there are many, here are two from my list: “Let yourself be silently drawn by the strange pull of what you really love. It will not lead you astray.” -Rumi–that’s always good advice. And one from my youth: “We should be blessed if we lived in the present always, and took advantage of every accident that befell us, like the grass which confesses the influence of the slightest dew that falls on it…” – Thoreau, Walden

Outside of WI, which I left at 26, I’ve lived in Germany, France, and North Carolina.

Passions? I like making stuff!

I’m divorced; my son is 28 and just got a PhD position at U. of Maryland medical school(!)
